The event kicked off on Saturday at 8 a.m., with volunteers signing in at the staging area under the Via Princessa bridge at the riverbed on Wiley Canyon Road.  Volunteers picked up supplies for clean-up such as trash bags and gloves, and then began filing into the river bed for the pick-up.  Multiple drop-off centers were stationed in the riverbed and each was full of orange trash bags by the time the event concluded at 11 a.m.   The clean-up of the river helps to protect species such as the California red-legged frog and California condor.
